0 responses 0 comments Christian Life Assembly is pleased to announce that Chuck Girard, a pioneer in contemporary Christian music, is coming to Tehachapi on Saturday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The church will be hosting a worship workshop for all interested worship leaders and team members. This will be a valuable tool for basic worship leading as well as gaining insight from Girard’s own personal revelation of worship and teaching scriptural instruction.
The cost for the seminar is $15, which includes lunch and is payable at the door. At 7 p.m., there will be a free citywide concert open to everyone.
Girard began playing music at an early age, forming his first singing group, the Castells, in his early teens. Eventually, he recorded as lead singer of the Hondells. The group had its biggest hit with the song “Little Honda,” on which Girard sang lead.
Soon after, Girard began to realize his need for God. He began a five-year search for spiritual reality through psychedelic drugs, Eastern religions and the like, as he pursued a “hippie” life style. The search ended in a small church in Orange County, called Calvary Chapel. After his new birth, he and four friends began a group called Love Song that set unmatched precedents in Christian music for that time. Love Song became the first group to play rock oriented music in the Christian setting, gaining international acceptance and popularity.
Since then, Girard has continued to travel throughout the world and minister in a solo capacity.
Sunday, June 11, Girard will be in both the 8 and 11 a.m. services at CLA, located at 920 Valley Blvd., one block east of Tucker Road.
