On the left is club member Marget Willer with Christina Aronhalt, development director for Habitat for Humanity of the Golden Empire and the guest speaker at a recent Kiwanis Club of Tehachapi meeting.
Aronhalt informed the club that a second Habitat for Humanity house would be built in Tehachapi for a single mother with two children. Habitat expects construction to begin by the end of June and hope for it to be completed within 18 weeks.
The person who qualifies will be given an interest-free loan, will be expected to remain in the home for at least five years and will be expected to make payments. Habitat homes are built with nearly all-volunteer labor, which includes help from the buyer.
The Kiwanis Club will be participating in a Kiwanis Saturday, when many members will participate in the construction.
