Spring was in the air March 14 as Tehachapi Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) celebrated its annual awards luncheon. The banquet room at Kelcy’s was festooned with spring delights as only Robin Jones can accomplish.

Awards were given out by Robin to the happy recipients who anxiously waited to hear their names called. Many special awards were presented in different categories. To name a few: KOPS in black, perfect attendance and special honors were presented to TOPS members who showed a net weight loss in 2005.

Weight division winners were Melodie Mackiewicz, Judy Logan, Dorothy Barnes, Joanne Kurczeski, JoAnne Huston and Colleen Machynia. KOPS member of the year is Dorothy Mink and the TOPS member of the year is Joanne Kurczeski. The TOPS losers of the year are Melodie Mackiewicz and Colleen Machynia.

Joanne Kurczeski was crowned queen and will have the honor of reigning as such for 2006. She was honored for losing the most weight in her weight division, reaching and maintaining her goal weight and becoming a KOPS member.

TOPS chose one member who inspired them during the previous year. This coveted award was given to Royal Mink as most inspirational.

Gratitude was extended from Sylvia Thomas to Robin on behalf of Tehachapi TOPS for her exceptional efforts and support of the chapter during the previous year.

Tehachapi TOPS was especially favored this year by having the area coordinator, Margaret Charles, in attendance. A special thank you gift was presented to Margaret in appreciation of her work well done.

A big congratulations is extended to all of our losers who are indeed winners.
