Are you aware of when saxophone music began? We hope you’ll attend the Tehachapi Summer Music Concert this June and learn about saxophone music through the centuries. Dr. Colleen Snyder and three other saxophonosits will perform this wonderful, uplifting concert for Tehachapi area residents on June 17 at 7 p.m. at St. Malachy’s Church on Mill Street.
Snyder is a graduate of Stanford University where she earned a bachelor’s degree of arts, a master of arts and doctor of musical arts degrees. She has taught music in the public schools in the states of Washington and California and has been a member of music faculties at several universities in both states. Snyder is currently the director of instrumental music at Reedley College where she also teaches music theory, ear training, music appreciation and piano.
Snyder, fluent on several instruments besides her saxophone, performs regularly with the Tulare County Symphony and the Merced Symphony as a violist. She also plays her saxophone and piano with several jazz bands in the Central California area.
This concert is brought to the citizens of the greater Tehachapi area by local businesses, individuals and organizations. Mark your calendar for a rocking event and plan to join us.
