My dad to me is the Father of the Year 2006 and every year since the day I was born. Wow, there is so much I want to say to prove my dad deserves this more then anyone, I hope I can get it all out :)
My father, Jay Schwartz, is 47 years old and he has been a truck driver for the past 28 years. In this time he has been the most amazing person and role model to four wonderful children. My mom and dad have four kids, me at 24, my sister at 22 and my two brothers at 20 and 19. He has been a devoted husband to my mother for 25 years.
Being a truck driver my dad was only able to come home on the weekends. However, when my dad came home every weekend he did not rest. Instead he made our childhood one to remember forever. He would take us four kids camping, hiking, fishing to Brite Lake and riding our bikes.
My dad now at 47 has really bad arthritis in his hands from driving trucks for 28 years. Even though my dad is in pain he still came over last weekend to help install a sprinkler system in my back yard, which is back-breaking work. Yet he did not stop for eight hours on the only days he has off to relax and he worked hard.
My dad does this every weekend when he comes home. My mom will make a list of things for him to fix around the house over the weekend and when he comes home he drops his bags and goes straight to work. If it’s showing one of the horses, painting the kitchen, or taking the stitches out of the dog, my dad will do it without hesitation.
This year my dad has proved how awesome he really is. I am 23 and I am getting married on June 24 of this year. He gave me his tax return to help pay for my wedding. He has been helping me so much with the wedding and I wish there was a way to repay him for all that he has done for me.
He truly is the greatest dad in the world and I wish I could hand him the world on a silver platter. He is awesome, loving, caring, selfless and devoted to God and his family. I love him so much and he truly is Father of the year to me and my family.
Please consider my father Jay Schwartz for Tehachapi's Father of the Year :)
