Join the Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales summer reading program at the Tehachapi Branch of the Kern County Library. The fun begins on Tuesday, June 13. All children returning books to the library may start their reading records and earn a free paperback book to keep!
Children may be read to or may be reading themselves. When they have completed 10 books, children will earn a free book. The program runs through Saturday, Aug. 5.
Activities for the summer reading program will include a weekly activity program on Wednesdays at 4 p.m., preschool storytime on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. and tee-shirt painting. Bring in a new or very clean (no stains) tee-shirt to the library before Saturday, July 1.
Our local ‘hachapi Tees will imprint the logo onto the shirts. During the week of July 18 through 22, participants may come to the library to paint their shirt and take them home. The final program for the summer will be, Saturday August 5, at 10:30 a.m.
A calendar with all of the activities on it will be available soon.
All children are encouraged to join the Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales summer reading program, to read at least 10 books, to earn a free book, to paint a T-shirt and to have fun at the programs.
Teen reading programThe Tehachapi Branch of the Kern County Library is offering a teen summer reading program called Creature Feature at your library. All students in the middle school through high school can participate. Reading is the goal of this program.
Read 10 library books and earn a $10 voucher to Books & Crannies to buy your own book to enjoy and keep. The vouchers are sponsored by the Friends of the Tehachapi Library.
This program begins Tuesday, June 13, and runs through Saturday, Aug. 5.
Another great part of the teen program is an opportunity to write book reviews and earn a free book. Participants in the teen program are invited to write reviews of the library books they are reading.
These reviews will be posted in the Kern County Library’s teen summer reading page for all to see. This is another way to earn one more free book. This program is sponsored by the Kern County Friends of the Library. Supplies will be limited, so as soon as the program starts in June start submitting your reviews.
It’s all happening at the Tehachapi Branch of the Kern County Library, located at 1001 W. Tehachapi Blvd., between Hodad’s and Bottom’s Up Tanning Salon.
