Thursdays will be a reason to celebrate all sorts of art in Tehachapi this summer. Starting in June, the Tehachapi Art Center will be offering performance art – along with a variety of artistic demonstrations – in the yard on Thursday evenings. Plan to attend Main Street’s Farmer’s Market in Railroad Park from 4 to 6 p.m., then mosey on down to the art center for music, plays, improv, open mikes, storytelling and much more.
There will be a small admission charge (we want to pay the musicians something, however small, for sharing their wonderful talents). Bring a picnic and a chair or blanket with you.
Here is a tentative schedule of upcoming performances:
June 8 — The Cantills, a local band of 5 to 9 members – see how many are there at the Art Center!
June 15 — Jo Stone (keyboards) with Michele Lawerence (singer) and James Peck make up Me, Myself and Annette with music from the 40s, 50s and 60s.
June 22 — Tony Amero, easy listening guitar and vocals, as well as Tony Vice, western music.
June 29 — Will James Group,Celtic music, and Gary Mazzola’s Band, light rock in a jazzy style.
The Art Center is located at 106 S Mojave (right off Tehachapi Boulevard, across from the Apple Shed).
For more information, interested entertainers can call TAC’s new entertainment director, Judy Reedy, at 823-8111. Artists who wish to partake in the outdoor art demonstrations should call the Art Center at 822-6794.
