The June Tehachapi Valley Artists Association gallery exhibit will feature local artists from Lynne Freeman’s Studio Bee.
Studio Bee began as an unstructured working haven for Lynne to share with a few of her energetic and artistic Red-Hatter friends. It quickly grew from three regulars to a very busy group of 14 oil painters who meet weekly to paint their subjects in styles unique to the imagination and preferences of each.
The original three, Lynne Freeman, Dot Miller and Judy Whitfield, were joined by Julie Amstutz, Aggie Hernandez, Barbara Kieffe, Leslie Kimball, Eileen O’Connor and Suzanne Bernier.
Moreover, a delightful group of teen artists also gather at the studio, located at 112B E. F St.eet. They meet on a weekly basis for lessons and inspiration from Lynne. The teens who will be taking part in the TVAA show are Cassie Yttsen, Melonie Lawson, Amanda Duke and Ashley Nelson.
Cassie Yttsen won best of show in the TVAA sponsored All Tehachapi Youth Art Contest in 2005. Amanda Duke was a place winner and recipient of the Wodke Award in this year’s event.
Gallery ‘N’ Gifts will host the TVAA show this month, which will be filled with the colorful paintings of Lynne Freeman and the other Studio Bee artists, many in the impressionistic style of Monet, Renoir and Cezanne.
There will be a reception for these interesting and vivacious artists on Saturday, June 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p. m. at Gallery “N” Gifts. Refreshments for the reception will be Gallery member’s favorite recipes from the TVAA Kitchen Artistry cookbook and supplements.
Gallery 'N' Gifts is located at 100 W. Tehachapi Blvd., on the southwest corner of Green and Tehachapi.
