A memorial service will be held on July 1 at 1 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located at 21260 Golden Hills Blvd., for Janan Swan Metzler, 69, who passed away on June 21 in Bakersfield.
Janan was born on Aug. 7, 1936 in Wisconsin to parents William and Rose Jupp. On June 16, 1956 she married the love of her life, Leo John Metzler, in Santa Monica. Even though Janan was married to Leo for 50 years, it was often said the they were still on their honeymoon. Janan was a devoted wife and mother and loved to spend time with her family. Janan loved to cook and was awesome in the kitchen. She loved to travel, her favorite destination being Pismo. Janan enjoyed yard sales, selling things on e-bay and attending old timers’ picnics.
For over 40 years Janan was a baptized witness of Jehovah. She daily expressed her love for Jehovah and his teachings.
Janan is survived by her husband, Leo Metzler of Tehachapi; daughters, Denise Aguilar of Tehachapi, Tracy Tonneslan of Bakersfield and Teresa Schultz of Bakersfield; son, John Metzler of Tehachapi; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
