Funeral services will be held for Lynn J. Buttcane, 77, on July 3 at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 600 Anita Drive. A viewing will beheld from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Lynn was born on Feb. 28, 1929 to Lemuel James Buttcane and Ethyl Lucille JOhnson. He passed away on June 29.

Lynn attending schools in Coalinga. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1951 and served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955. Lynn played the trombone in the original Tehachapi Community Band, which is now the Tehachapi Community Orchestra. During his college days, Lynn played in a dance band. He loved photography and music.

Lynn brought his family to Tehachapi in 1966. He was a real estate broker, opening the original Tehachapi Real Estate office.

Lynn was a member of the Kiwanis Club for more than 30 years and served a term as lieutenant governor. He received an award from the Kiwanis for many years of perfect attendance. He was very involved with the Kiwanis Iodine Deficiency Disorder program for the last 10 years. He served on the board of the Tehachapi-Cummings County Water District and was well known in the Community for his public service.

Lynn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many positions during his live including that of a bishop’s counselor in the Mojave church.

Lynn was preceded in death by his second wife, Jolyne buttcane and his parents, Lemuel and Ethyl Buttcane. Lynn is survived by his wife, Patsy of tehachapi; children and families, Ted Burgess of Idaho; Brent Davidson of California; Lori Nardini, Craig Buttcane, Todd Buttcane, Lynette Davies and Jared Buttcane, all of Tehachapi; John Hutchins of Hawaii; Micheal O’Brien of Arizona; 32 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Lynn to the Kiwanis IDD Program, P.O. Box 436, Tehachapi CA, 93581.

Wood Family Funeral Services handled the arrangements.
