For all you women riders out there, I happened upon a fun trail riding trip for women only that runs from Aug. 14 to 18 near Banff in Alberta, Canada. It's a real cowgirl experience away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. A Banff-based outfitter is hosting a 4-night, 5-day ride into the back-country of Banff National Park. Lodging is in rustic but comfortable cabins, with nightly campfires, music and maybe some Cowboy Poetry. The trip sounded so good, I decided go. I've ridden before near Banff and the sights and sounds are something else.

For more info on this trip, visit www.horseback.com.

Don’t forget, if you have any information to report on the horse community such as upcoming events, clinics, raffles or you’ve won an award, call Jill at 823-1114, send her a fax at 823-1115, send email to jillbn@yahoo.com, or drop material off at the Tehachapi News. Jill and her husband John operate the Bar Double J Ranch on Cameron Canyon Road, raising performance quarter horses (barjjranch.com). They also run a production company, which will make videos, DVDs of your horse or set up a website.
