Jack and Donna Dale’s marriage has been more than a 60-year marriage. It has been a lovely partnership.
“If the person your married to is the most important person in your life, you’ll communicate with them,” Jack said, emphasizing that communication is the key to a good marriage.
A celebration of Jack and Donna’s great marriage was held in the conference room of the Tehachapi Hospital on July 9. A few friends from the long-term care unit of the hospital shared the event with the Dale’ family and close friends.
Donna is a patient in the long-term care unit of the Tehachapi Hospital, where Jack visits her daily.
Jack and Donna were married in Byron, Wyo. on July 8, 1946 in the home where Donna had grown up. At the time of their marriage, Jack was still serving in the Navy and had previously spent two years in the South Pacific during World War II.
After Jack was discharged from the military, the Dales made their home in Taft, where Jack had been raised. Jack followed in his dad’s footsteps by owning a grocery store.
In 1969, he moved with his wife and two daughters to Tehachapi and opened a store here.
At their Diamond anniversary, the Dale’s daughter, Cathy Moats, thanked them for being good parents and praised her dad for taking “such good care of her mom.”
