Majors, Juniors and Seniors softball performing well at District 51 All-Star championships

While they may have lost their final game of the year, the Majors All-Star Softball Area-2 champion softball team still left the field all smiles after finishing out the season with a 20-19 seven-inning thriller defeat against Quartz Hill last Wednesday.
Tehachapi reached the championship by defeating California City 6-0, Kern River 12-0 and Kern River 15-2 in the Area 2 championship bracket, and then defeating Rosamond 16-4 and Quartz Hill 12-11. Needing to beat Quartz Hill again for the title, Tehachapi fell twice, 22-8, and in the final championship game to end their season.
In the championship, Mickie Eberle opened up the game with a run to make it 1-0 before Quartz Hill stormed back in the bottom of the first with six runs. Tehachapi then chipped away at the lead in the top of the third, scoring four times to make the game count 6-5 in favor of Quartz Hill. Scoring in the third inning was Scout Hawksley, Mickie Eberle, Jackie Kunick and Paige Bennett.
In the fourth inning, Tehachapi exploded with 14 runs to take a 19-14 lead, with AJ Snider, Taylor Cross, McKinna Smith, Mickie Eberle, Jackie Kunick, and Paige Bennett all reaching home plate twice and Kristin Rush and Sandra Price scoring once. Eberle and Kunick both had doubles in the game.
In Juniors softball action, Tehachapi defeated Cal City 24-0 but then fell to Palmdale 10-0 last Wednesday in the Parkview Little League hosted tournament. The loss was followed up by a 28-1 victory over Cal City last Thursday. The Juniors played Rosamond last Saturday for the right to play Palmdale for the District 51 All-Star title.
In the Seniors league, Tehachapi reached the championship with victories over El Dorado, 5-4, and Quartz Hill, 11-8, but fell in the title game to Parkview, 9-1.
