A funeral service was held on July 22 at the Church of the Nazarene for Martha Billings, 79, who passed away on July 19 in Rancho Mirage.

Martha was born on Feb. 22, 1927 to parents Charles and Violet Clark. She married LaVerne Billings in Las Vegas, Nev. and together they raised seven children.
Martha worked as a nursery school director for 16 years. Martha and her husband had a family business called “Ye Olde Granny’s Attic” for which Martha painted the wooden crafts her husband created.

Martha enjoyed oil painting and was spectacular at it. She loved gardening and particularly her roses. Martha also had a great love for animals.

Martha was very family oriented and loved family gatherings. She was very compassionate and was always available to offer help and encouragement.
She will be remembered as the “Special Grandma,” and will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne Joyce Billings. She is survived by her children, Patricia Crouch, Sharon Johnson, Robin Treat, David Billings, Marla Lindsay, April Kim and Norman Billings; grandchildren, Joyce Johnson, Bill Johnson, Kelly Downs, Sean Downs, Savine Billing, Darius Billings, Jeff Billings, Christy Billings, Ty Cox, Thang Nguyen, Lua Pham, Heidi Koorenny, Melissa Neiderheiser, Desiree Hueser, Cameron Kim and Lance Kim; great-grandchildren, Logan Walden, Claire Koorenny, Kendal Koorenny, Makai Hueser, Sarah Huesser, Naomi Heuser, Kayley Billings and Taylor McKenzie Billings.

Burial will take place on July 25 at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Sylmar. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
