Funeral services were held for Florence Jean Youngblood on July 31 at Wood Family Funeral Service in Tehachapi.

Florence ,76, died July 26 after a brief illness with lung cancer.
Florence was born in Spiro, Oklahoma to John and Minnie Langston. She was one of eight children. Their family lived in Flower Hill and Tucker, Oklahoma until Florence was 11-years-old. They then moved to Arvin, California. She resided in and around Bakersfield most of her life and has been a Tehachapi resident since 1982.

She loved being with her family. Each year her family has an annual reunion. She enjoyed each reunion and talked about it until the next one.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, in 1986. They had been married for 37 years. She will be laid to rest beside him. They will finally be together after 20 years apart. She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Steven and Alan, in 1966. Also, a brother, Wilburn, and a sister, Edith.

Florence survived by her children and their families. Alena and Phil Messer; Karen Smith; and Sharon and Mike Patterson, all from Tehachapi; Kenny and Linda Youngblood of Rosamond; and David Youngblood of Banning. She had 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Surviving brothers and sisters are Hester and Ray Girton; Cyrus Langston and his fiance, Deen Thompson; and Dwight and Judy Langston, all from Bakersfield; along with Dora Riley and Shirley and Don Graves of Tehachapi. Also, many nieces, nephews and friends of the family will miss her.
Internment was at Union Cemetery in Bakersfield. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
