Delores Eleanor Nybakken, long time resident of the Antelope Valley, passed into eternal rest on July 25 in Tehachapi. Delores, known by her friends as “Del,” was born on June 3, 1934 in Melfort, Saskatchewan, Canada. Del came to the United States via the Territory of Alaska, where she worked as a clerk for Piggly Wiggly markets. Del worked for many years in Lancaster for Shopping Bag food stores and Vons markets before retiring in 1995.

Del loved the Lord and was a faithful, longtime member of the Living Faith Christian Church in Lancaster.

Del is survived by her son Jerry (Mary); daughter, Colleen (Jeff), four grandchildren, Hannah, Connor, Jacob and DeLaney. She is also survived by brothers, Gordon and Tom of Canada; and sisters, Sharon of Armstrong British Columbia, and Darlene of Ft. St. John British Columbia. Del was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Brown of Thompson, Manitoba, Canada; her stepfather, Percy Brown of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada; and brother, Lorne Brown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 1 at the Living Faith Christian Church, located at 441 W. Ave. K, at 7 p.m. She will be greatly missed and was a blessing to all who knew her.
