Dear Editor,
Let me tell you this—when Walmart starts building in Tehachapi, I’m going to be out in front of the construction site with a big sign, and I mean big, saying, “Welcome to Tehachapi WalMart, long may you live.”

Why Wal-Mart, why not a Target? I would rather have a Target. Wal-Mart is known for being horrible to their employees, paying minimum wage, going out of their way not to offer medical benefits to their hard working employees. They have been criticized for this time and time again. I would rather see a community friendly, employee friendly store in our community.

I wonder how many people from the Tehachapi area have been to the super walmart in Palmdale? Anyone who has, would probably be in favor of one in Tehachapi. The store is always clean, and always well stocked, unlike Albertsons, Savemart, Riteaid, and Walgreens, and whether you want to admit it or not their prices are extremely better then the aforementioned stores. Like Albertsons and their discount card. If anyone ever took the time, I did, you would realize you really don't get any benefit at all using it, because you can go across the street to Savemart and in most cases find the same product for the same price or lower. Now both companies have started using the slick advertising of 10 for 5$, or 15 for $10 dollars. Do the math, it looks good on paper, but products are the same prices, or higher than they were 6 months ago. Wallmart has no gimmicks, just great prices. As for their employees, whatever wage they make, is an honest living with dignity, instead of living off our government. No one drugs them and makes them go to work for the company, so the company must be doing something right.
