Barbara A. Speed
May 10, 1935 - Aug. 6, 2006
Barbara A. Speed went home to her Lord and Savior on August 6, 2006. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She touched many lives, and her caring behavior and the way that she lived her life served as an inspiration to all that knew her.
Born May 10, 1935, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, she lived in Rosamond for the past 35 years where she was an active member in The Rosamond Church of Christ, as well as the community of Rosamond.
She served her community in numerous ways to help create what it is today. She was actively involved with the R.C.S.D., American Legion, V.F.W., Rosamond Sports Boosters and, most recently, seeing her life-long dream by witnessing the opening of the new Rosamond Fire Station.
She worked for 22 years at Edwards Air Force Base, where she retired in 1995, as the head of Civil Engineering’s Human Resources Department.
Surviving are her sons Bill and wife Denise Speed of Rosamond; Mitch and wife Vickie Speed of Lancaster; and three grandchildren - Brooke, Brandi, and Brodie. She is also survived by brother Marion Kennedy and wife Bernice of Idaho.
The “Celebration of her life” will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2006, at the Church of Christ in Rosamond. Immediately following, she will be laid to rest at Joshua Memorial Park, Lancaster. A reception to celebrate Barbara’s life will then be held at the Rosamond Moose Lodge. Those attending are asked to dress in bright colors in celebration of her life.
