The community of Tehachapi is cordially invited to a surprise open house in honor of Kathryn Errecart on Sunday, September 17 from 4:30 to 6:30 P.M. at 20301 Clubview Court.

Attendees may bring a note of memories and gratitude for Mrs. Errecart to be compiled in a book of appreciation.  Young students may draw a picture and write a couple of lines to their former teacher.  Photographs might also accompany letters.  Those living outside of the Tehachapi area may submit e-mails to steinweave@hotmail.com.  Tehachapi residents are encouraged to spread this information to Kathryn’s former students who live outside of the area.

Mrs. Errecart recently retired from teaching a multitude of piano students.  Her first retirement, however, occurred after a long and luminous career teaching English for the Tehachapi Unified School District.  Errecart pioneered the AP English program at Tehachapi High School.  She was a “teacher’s teacher” and garnered great respect from students as well as staff.  Mrs. Errecart spent long hours willingly correcting as many drafts as students were willing to write in hopes of receiving an “A.”  Former students claim her English classes were of the highest quality.  They reminisce over making Errecart’s deadlines by finishing papers on her front lawn at odd hours and dropping them in her schoolhouse shaped mailbox.

Kathryn Errecart gave her students the same thing she expected of them, the very best.  Her English students have successfully continued the quest for excellence in a variety of fields.  Her piano students were always among the select few chosen to play at the prestigious yearly convention of the Music Teachers’ Association of California.

As Kathryn’s new residence will be in Bakersfield, we can’t let her quietly leave without an outpouring of love and gratitude for all she invested in us.  Come enjoy an afternoon in her honor.
