Roger Elmer Beans, 78, a seven year resident of the Tehachapi area, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 20, in Bakersfield.
Roger was born May 14, 1928, in Oklahoma City, to parents Elmer and Anna Ashby Beans.
On Oct. 19, 1950, he married Irene Katherine Nosco in Los Angeles. He served in the Unites States Army following World War II and returned to civilian life on Aug. 26, 1947.
Roger worked as salesman most of his life. He loved to play the fiddle and was also an avid golfer. Roger and Irene were golfing with friends at Cal City when they were introduced to Tehachapi. They fell in love with the area and moved here shortly after.
He was noted as having a wonderful sense of humor. “Grandpa” drove his grandchildren crazy with his constant teasing and jokes.
Roger is survived by his wife, Irene Katherine Beans, of Tehachapi; daughter, Cathy Sorge, of Santa Clarita; granddaughters, Jennifer Marie and Kimberly Renee Sorge, also of Santa Clarita; cousins, L.D. Bauer, of Oceanside; Gloria Murray, of Cathedral City, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Beans.
Arrangements were handled by Wood Family Funeral Service.
