The Book of Revelation is the final book of God's inspired Word. It tells us about our Lord's Second Coming, the end of the world and what heaven will be like.
The Book of Revelation has been considered a difficult book to understand because it uses symbolic or figurative language. It portrays Jesus as a lamb, the devil as a dragon, and the church as a woman.
As Christians study the Book of Revelation, they do not all agree about whether it says the Second Coming of Christ will occur at the end of the world, or whether it says His coming will begin a final period of tribulation for those who are left behind.
But we can all agree that the Book of Revelation gives us a beautiful picture of what heaven will be like. It says that there will be no sin or evil and all the believers will be in the glorious presence of God forever.
In heaven there will be no sorrow, no pain and no death. Heaven will be wonderful beyond our comprehension. Heaven will shine with the glory of God and its brilliance will be like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. Heaven will be a magnificent place filled with rejoicing and praise.
The Book of Revelation reminds us what is really most important about our life. It is not about accumulating material possessions and experiencing physical pleasures.
Life is about growing closer to God and preparing ourselves to be in His presence forever. Our greatest joys will come as we feel God working through us and as we help other people get ready for eternal life in heaven.
As we read the Book of Revelation may God help us grow in our faith and service of Him.
