Valerie was born Feb. 26 , 1951, in Glendale. She went to be with Our Lord on Aug. 31. Pastor Jerry Powers will conduct a memorial service on Sept. 9, at Tehachapi Church of the Nazarene at 1 p.m.

Valerie and her husband Ron were married in 1969 and raised their two children in Burbank before moving to Tehachapi in 1990.

Valerie had a great love of animals and was able to fulfill the dream of having horses, goats and chickens after moving to the country. She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing and crafts. The wasn’t much Valerie couldn’t do as she had a gift for figuring things out.

Valerie will be remembered as a wonderful loving wife, mother, Grammy, sister and friend to all.

Valerie is survived by her husband of 37 years, Ronald J. Mowry Sr. of Tehachapi; daughter, Theresa and husband George Carter and their children Taylor, Ty and Tori of Tehachapi; son Ronald Jr. and wife Jena Mowry and their children Kaylee and Jordan of Tulsa, Okla.; sisters, Norma and husband Paul Hrozencik of Whitehall, Penn., Mary Kay Lewis of Everett, Wash., Diane and husband Bob Jackson of Santa Clarita; brother, Greg and wife Bonnie Lewis of Las Vegas; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Valerie was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Gloria Lewis.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Valerie’s name to the American Cancer Society or City of Hope.
