Tehachapi resident Floyd Allen Downs, 52, passed away on Monday, August 28th in Tehachapi.

Mr. Downs was born on September 19, 1953 in Blythe to parents Cletus Allen and Juanita Austin Downs. Floyd served in the Navy from 1970 through 1972. He married Joellen Joy Lueken on June 8, 1980 in Upland. Floyd spent his working years as an appliance repairman, most recently in Tehachapi.

Floyd loved to fish, play the guitar, work with wood, cook and Bar-B-Q. He really enjoyed the mountains also. Floyd was loved by his family and friends alike.  He loved to laugh and found great delight in making others laugh with him. He was a true family man.

Mr. Downs is survived by his wife, Joellen; daughters, Sheila Downs of Tehachapi, Kristy and Jesse Hightower of Cal City, Kimberly and James Kinnard of Tehachapi; son, James Downs of Phelan; grandchildren, James, Brittany, Lindsey, Shelby, Kristalyn, Taylor, Jaycie; mother, Juanita Scott of Kingman, Ariz.; sisters, Pam and Warren Clemmer of Anchorage, Alaska, Carla and Howard Young of Leroy, Kan., Debbie Littlefield of Bullhead City, Ariz., Linda and Frank Reibling of Golden Valley, Ariz.; brother, Jim and Diane Scott of Centennial, Colo.; and father-in-law, Edward Lueken, Sr. of Daggett.  

Floyd was preceded in death by his father, Cletus Downs; stepfather, Foster Scott; mother-in-law, Joyce Lueken, and grandson Dalton Hughes.

A memorial service will be held at Summit Christian Fellowship on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
