In 1 Corinthians 13 Saint Paul wrote about love. He said that when God places love in us, it leads us to be patient and kind and it gives us hope and helps us persevere.
Love moves us to care about other people and to make sacrifices in order to help them. Genuine love is active, leading us, not just to care about others, but to actually get involved and offer compassion.
True love will also endure over a long time. If our feelings fade quickly then we know it was only an infatuation or a physical desire.
Paul also wrote that the love which God places within us never fails and it will not pass away. God demonstrated this love by sending His Son to be our Savior even though we had fallen into sin.
God's love now works in our heart to enable us to love one another. We are moved to offer support and encouragement to people, even if we will not benefit from it.
The Bible says that love is the greatest of all the blessings God gives us. Our love connects us to God and allows us to feel His presence and His guidance.
God's love is not just something we feel inside of us, it is an activity that we put into practice. We love one another as we show kindness, generosity and concern for the people around us.
Love gives us a taste of what eternal life in heaven will be like. We will be with God and will be completely filled with love for Him.
No matter how many talents or possessions we have, we need to be filled with God's love. May we be guided by our love to have peace and joy and to serve God in everything we do.
