Charles Homer Smoot born Sept. 9, 1935. He passed away on Sept. 5 at the age of 70.
Chomer, what Chuck’s friends like to call him, was born in Denton, Texas, and raised in Dallas. He graduated from North Texas State University in Denton. He served in the United States Air Force for 28 years, retiring at the rank of Lt. Colonel. After a brief retirement, he rejoined the work force and began a second career as Chief Operating Officer of the Bear Valley Springs Association for the next eight years.
Chomer was a Christian, a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather. He had a passion for life and a great love for people. His Christian belief for his salvation helped sustained him, especially during his illness.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Esther; daughter Donna and her husband, Rick; son Charles and his wife, Stephanie; grandchildren Sara, Nicholas, Sydney, Cameron and Jake; brother John Smoot; and sister Sharlyn Majors. His generosity, compassion and indomitable spirit will be missed.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at Havenhouse Church, located at 21617 Cleardale, Newhall. The church telephone number is 259-9559.
