A Memorial Service to celebrate life was held Friday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m., at Christian Life Assembly of God Church for Tehachapi resident Douglas Arthur Jacobs, 64, who passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26 in Bakersfield.
“Jake” was born Feb. 4, 1942, to Kenneth Albert and Violet Marie Sedam Jacobs in Indianapolis, Ind. In 1962 he moved to California. On July 27, 1974, he married Dorothy “Dottie” Marie Parker in Las Vegas, Nev. Jake was employed as a heavy-duty tow truck operator for 44 years working on the big rigs. The majority of those years he worked on the Grapevine. In December of 1993, he and Dottie moved to Tehachapi to spend their retirement years.
Mr. Jacobs is survived by his wife, Dottie, of Tehachapi; daughters Michelle and Robert Shephardson of McComb, Ohio, and Geraldine and Ernest Victorino of Tehachapi; sons, Charles Weis, of Reno Nev., Paul and Christine Weis, of Erie, Colo., Michael and Leslie Weis, of Ridgecrest and Greg and Joann Cook, of Deer Trail, Colo.; grandchildren, Bobbi and Michael Shepardson of, McComb, Ohio, Amy and Scott McMahon, of Bakersfield, Nicki Victorino, of Costa Mesa, Alex and Kelly Victorino, of N.C., Stacey and Shannon Sasser, of Tehachapi, Joel and Stephanie Weis of Hilo, Hawaii and Jessie Weis of Erie, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Rachelle Knight, Blake Cannedy and McKenna McMahon, of Bakersfield; Kyler, Dakota and Colin Sasser, of Tehachapi, and Cheyenne, MaKayla and Lucas Victorino, of N.C. He is also survived by his sisters, Sherri and Jim Jenkins of Medham, Ind., Gloria and John Russel of Greenwood, Ind., Kim and Tony Sadowski of Port Washington, Ohio; brother, Mike and Sue Jacobs of Martinsville, Ind. and numerous other family and friends.
Pastor Dale Sheley officiated the service. A private ceremony was held at Tehachapi Public Cemetery – Westside where Mr. Jacobs was interred.
Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
