Villa E. West led a multifaceted life. He was born Jan. 26, 1940 in Beaumont, Texas and as a young adult moved to Kern County, where he lived out his life, and died in Tehachapi on Oct. 9. He spent time in the military, as well as working in the Bakersfield oil fields, and for the Southern Pacific Railroad as an engineer. But he found his true joy and sense of purpose while working and playing with his four-legged friends. He loved training horses and helping others that shared in his passion.
He was survived by many loving friends and family who will remember him most for his vivacious spirit, warm smile, and enthusiastic storytelling.
