0 responses 0 comments Services were held Thursday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. at Wood Family Funeral Service for Tehachapi resident David Guy Theriault, 57, who passed away in his Stallion Springs home on Saturday, Nov. 4.

David was born to George Guy and Esther Theriault on Aug. 17, 1949, in Caribou, Maine. He served his country in the Marines during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1969. During his service he was awarded the Silver Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and also was a three time recipient of a Purple Heart. After leaving the military, David became a member of the American Legion.

On August 7, 1973, he married Judy A. Curti in Lake Tahoe. He worked for the California Men's Colony in San Luis Obispo for 23 years. He started the Canine Unit at Avenal State Prison. David retired as a Lieutenant in 2000.

Mr. Theriault and his wife, Judy, relocated to Stallion Springs following his retirement. David enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Horse Thief Men's Golf Club and served as president for two years.

David is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Michele of Cayucos; brother Phil and Bea Doody of Caribou, Maine; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Barbara Duggins and Jim and Linda Bachino, all of Tehachapi; nieces, Deanna Bachino of Paso Robles, Laura Lee Doody of Houston, Texas and Jolene Duggins of Arroyo Grande; nephews, Sean Condon of Feeding Hills, Mass., and Bill Duggins of Templeton, and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Esther Theriault.

Pastor Rick Dorr of the Stallion Springs Community Church officiated the service. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
