Alfred Guadalupe Aguilar was called to heaven on Dec. 1. He was born in Corcoran on Dec. 12, 1953, to Demecio and Anita Aguilar.
He grew up in Tehachapi and graduated from Tehachapi High School in 1972. As a boy, he started working at Western Auto, cleaning up after school. Showing perseverance and determination, he later became co-owner of the store with one of his brothers, changing the business’ name to D.S.A. He later worked in the tire shop at Costco. Fred showed that he had a strong work ethic by going back to work despite losing a leg to diabetes.
Aguilar is survived by his mother, Anita Aguilar of Tehachapi; brothers, Demecio Aguilar, Jr., of Tehachapi, Martin Aguilar of Trona, Simon Aguilar of Tehachapi, Manuel Rodriguez of Arizona; sisters, Elisa Mezey of Morro Bay, Rosie Myers of Tehachapi, Vivian Chavez of Tehachapi, Marie Manning of California City and Frances Serrano of Granada Hills; step-sons, Dennis Wright, Earl Wright and grandson Anthony Wright; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Demecio Aguilar, Sr.
Vigil Service was held on Wednesday, Dec. 6 and Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 7 at St. Malachy Catholic Church. Father Joel Davadilla officiated the services. Interrment followed at Tehachapi Public Cemetery — Westside. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
