A funeral service was held on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Highland South Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville, Tenn., for Ryan Michael Hobbs, 30.
Ryan was born on May 29, 1976, in Franklin, Ind. He moved with his family to California in the early1980’s, where he attended local schools, graduating from Tehachapi High School in 1995.
Ryan was very active in sports all his life, playing baseball and football. He was small in stature, but had a big heart for everyone and everything.
Just out of high school, Ryan joined the Marine Corp., serving four years active duty, mostly overseas, and four years reserve duty. Having a passion for law enforcement, Ryan became employed at the California City Prison for two years, then employed with the Department of Corrections, Tehachapi in 2002. Ryan was also a private pilot and loved flying with his boys. Ryan wanted to pursue a career where he could combine his love of flying with law enforcement.
He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, father, and husband. He will also be remembered for his funny sense of humor. Ryan brought smiles and laughter to everyone who ever knew him.
Ryan is survived by his wife, Melissa, son’s Tyler and Trevor, of Tehachapi; parents, James and Charlsie Hobbs, of Tehachapi; brothers Kris Hobbs, of Las Vegas, and Darrin Hobbs, of Tehachapi; sisters, Kaci Hobbs, of Tehachapi, Kelly and Michael Davenport, of California City; grandfather, Harley Gross, of Tennessee; grandmother, Hazel Hobbs, of Indiana; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many good friends.
Each life holds a different span of time, but Ryan’s was extinguished much too soon. We will all miss him dearly.
