Formerly of Redondo Beach, he retired from Mobil Oil and spent the next 20 years of retirement in Bear Valley Springs.
Mr. Hellinga is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lavon Hellinga, and five children: daughters, Kathy and Mike Daniels, Karen and Doug Wilson, Kris and Robert Blazek, and Carol and Greg Grisham; son, Paul and Denise Hellinga; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. at Bear Valley Springs Community Church. Arrangements were handled by Wood Family Funeral Service.
