The water damaged Golden Hills Community Service District’s facility is still under repair but original estimates on the cost and time period for repairs have been lowered.
“Actually the offices should be done in 40 more days and the board room 30 days after that,” said GHCSD general manager Bill Fisher.
Originally it was estimated that the repairs would take approximately 90 days to complete and the cost would be around $175,000.
Fisher said the cost is being reduced from the original estimate to around $120,000 to $125,000.
The facility was damaged Jan. 13 when water from the fire suppression system flooded the offices and board room with approximately one and a half inches of water.
GHCSD General Manager Bill Fisher said the cause of the failure is still under investigation.
“One thing we learned from this is that we are able to relocate in one day,” said Fisher.
He said they have the skill, training and technology to do so and that a relocation plan was part of the original design of the building.
Fisher said that the fire suppression system is still in the process of being protected against freezing temperatures.
Board meetings are currently being held at The Courtyard located on Brian Way.
