0 responses 0 comments The metamorphosis of the fields of Tehachapi into retail centers and houses continues.
This time the change is occurring on the west side of Tucker Road, between Valley Boulevard and Tehachapi Boulevard.
“We broke ground on this project three months ago and as of yesterday, April 4, we started pouring the foundations for the buildings,” said Brad Sobel of Sobel Development, the Managing partner of Tehachapi Orchard, LLC. “We’re moving along very quickly.”
Sobel expects occupancy sometime late in the fourth quarter of 2007. So far, Del Taco, Subway Restaurant and Cingular Wireless have signed leases and Sobel said they have five to six letters of intent pending.
“There’s about 43,000 square feet of leasable area,” said Sobel. “The center will have 22 separate units and three freestanding buildings fronting Tucker Road.”
Sobel also said Sobel Development has purchased land across from the Home Depot on North Mill Street.
“We’re working through the City of Tehachapi now to build another retail center there.”
