The Tehachapi Mountain Vineyard is pleased to welcome the church’s new pastors, Barry and Saundra Galloway, to the community.
The Tehachapi Mountain Vineyard started on Easter, three years ago, as part of the creative expansion of the Desert Vineyard Church in Lancaster. The Desert Vineyard has over 4,000 people attending 13 weekend services in four different venues, including the Tehachapi location.
Since its start with 30 members from the Lancaster congregation, the Tehachapi Mountain Vineyard has grown to include almost 250 adults and children in two Sunday services that are linked by video cast to the weekend messages at the Lancaster campus.
“It is not a video service,” explained a founding member Marget Willer. “It is a contemporary worship service with a live band, pastoral leadership, children’s and youth ministry, genuine prayer, and the message is on a large screen in a high definition format. The Vineyard has always been known for its contemporary music, relaxed ‘come as you are’ atmosphere, and real to life Bible teaching. This is just another surprisingly great way to experience all that locally in an environment of welcome and grace.”
Barry and Saundra Galloway served on the pastoral staff of the Desert Vineyard for 10 years before being sent out in 2001 to plant a new vineyard church in Austin, Texas. They are now returning to the Desert Vineyard’s leadership team to serve as pastors for the Tehachapi congregation.
“We are very excited about what the future holds for the Vineyard in Tehachapi. We are a church that is not just a Christian club, but a place of discovery for the kind of faith that can change our lives and change our world,” said Pastor Galloway. “Saundra and I are thrilled to be coming back to serve the adventure of the Tehachapi Mountain Vineyard becoming everything God wants it to be.”
The Galloways have moved to a house in Tehachapi that is just around the corner from the five acre parcel in the Heritage Oaks neighborhood that will become the Tehachapi Mountain Vineyard’s permanent home in the coming years.
“It is a time of real joy and hope for us,” commented the Desert Vineyard’s lead pastor David Parker. “The Galloways will be a great blessing to both the church and the community. Barry and Saundra have a deep heart for people, and a real passion to serve God’s goodness for others.”
The property for the future church facility is located at Pinon and Scarlet Oak Dr. in the Heritage Oaks neighborhood. A dedication ceremony for the land will be held on Sunday, April 26, at 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
