Edith Marie Garner, devoted wife of 48 years, mother, and grandmother, peacefully passed away April 17, at her home in Tehachapi, after a brave battle with cancer.
Edith was born July 23, 1941, in Glendale. She moved to Thousand Oaks with her husband and children in 1973. Together, they owned and operated Garners Sewing & Vacuum Center in Thousand Oaks for 16 years before moving their business to Tehachapi.
Edith's family meant absolutely everything to her. Her loving, gentle nature and true selflessness were admired by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Martin Garner; son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Judy Garner of Thousand Oaks; sons Gary Garner of Thousand Oaks and David Garner of Tehachapi; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy Garner and Ruben Arrieta of Thousand Oaks; and grandchildren, Shelby Garner, Cody Garner, and Emily Arrieta.
The family would like to send its sincerest thanks to the many friends and family members who have assisted us through this difficult period.
A Psalm of David:
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me. Thou dost prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; Thou hast anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and loving-kindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”— Psalms 23
