A donation of five dollars can give you a chance at a free glider ride, string quartet performance at your home, an opportunity to conduct the orchestra, and a myriad of wonderful gifts, dinners and more, concluding with the grand prize of $1,000. The drawing will take place at the Tehachapi Community Orchestra concert on May 13.
The Tehachapi Community Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. David Newby, will perform their final indoor concert of the season at Country Oaks Baptist Church at 4:00 p.m. The Orchestra will open with Beethoven’s Overture “The Consecration of the House.” The Tehachapi Symphonic Chorus, accompanied by the orchestra, will then perform Brahms’ “How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place” from A German Requiem. The winner of the 2007 Young Artist Competition, violinist Celia Lay, will be performing Movement 111 from Kabalevsky’s Violin Concerto in C Major, Op.48. The orchestra will conclude with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.1 in G Minor, “Winter Dreams.”
