Well-known to many Tehachapi sports fans and to those who attend events at Rabobank Arena, local photographers Michael and Esther Duffy and Craig Robbins are opening a new studio, called Summit Photography, in Old Towne on May 7.
“Our goal is to bring a top-quality product at an affordable price,” said Robbins.
Michael Duffy has been a staple at sporting events throughout Tehachapi since 1990. He has photographed Tehachapi High School sporting events for 17 years, worked with the Bakersfield Condors for nine years, Bakersfield College Football for three years, the Bakersfield Blitz for four years and has been the official Rabobank Arena photographer for the past nine years. Michael has also been the Tehachapi News sports photographer and editor since 1991.
His wife, Esther, an accomplished photographer in her own right, shoots special appearances and guests at Rabobank Arena and she, like her husband, has performed numerous weddings, sporting events and award ceremonies.
Robbins has partnered with Michael at many sporting and special events as well. He has been interested in photography for 20 years and working professionally the last two.
The photo studio is located at 20617 Santa Lucia St., Suite C. They will be offering individual and family portraits, senior portraits, wedding photography and modeling portfolios. They are also available to create studio situations on location.
Due to their irregular schedule, regular hours are yet to be set, but one advantage Robbins said about their service is, “We’re available to go in three different directions at one time.”
An informal ribbon cutting was performed by Mayor Ed Grimes on May 1. There will be a grand opening on Thursday, May 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. The studio will be open Monday, May 7, to Friday, May 11, all day for visitors. The studio phone number is 822-9338.
