The past week for Lady Warriors softball was as good as it could be, setting the stage for the final two games of the regular season and a league title within grasp.
Tehachapi easily dispatched Arvin (12-0 and 21-5) and Shafter (10-0) to move within one game of the SSL title with a 19-4 (8-0 SSL) record. Wasco is the closest team to the Lady Warriors with two games left, sitting with a 16-11 (6-2 SSL) mark.
Tehachapi utilized the 10-run mercy rule against Arvin, with the contest ending after the fifth inning in both games. Erin Golackson went 2-2 with a home run and three RBIs, while Kelcey Kapitzke and Kasie Muro both had two runs scored. Kapitzke recorded the win in the circle, pitching five scoreless innings to move her ERA to 1.091.

One day later, Tehachapi scored the most runs of the season against the same Lady Bears squad, with two home runs by Muro and Caitlyn Siegmund. Muro also had a prep-high seven RBIs on a 4-4 day at the plate.

Jocelyn Lambeth, Sarah Koenig, Michelle Baxter and Kapitzke all scored three runs, while Chrissy Whitman crossed the plate on two occasions. Baxter recorded the win for Tehachapi, and currently has a 10-1 record on the year with a 1.641 ERA.

Tehachapi concluded the week with a convincing 10-0 win over Shafter, scoring seven runs at the top of the seventh inning to put the game away. Muro recorded two doubles and a team-leading two RBIs, while Chelsea Maduena scored a run after reaching first on a walk.

The Lady Warriors can wrap up outright back-to-back SSL titles this week with a win against either Wasco (Tuesday) or Taft (Thursday) at home. Both games will start at 4 p.m.

The Lady Braves extended their record to 12-2 (7-1 SSL) with a 19-4 and 13-1 win over Arvin and an 8-1 victory over Shafter last week.

Shelby Flick pitched 12 innings total, recording 16 strikeouts and giving up only six hits. Shayla Garland pitched the second game against Arvin, recording seven strikeouts in five innings and recording a no-hitter.

The 19-4 win against Arvin was highlighted with Hannah Ricker going 2-3 with a double and three RBIs and three runs scored; and Ashli Traynham going 3-5, three runs scored, two RBIs; and Heather Andrade going 2-4 with three RBIs. Lacey Perez went 2-2 with three runs scored and three RBIs, Cheyanne Warren went 2-3 with three RBIs and Flick went 2-3 with three RBIs in the 13-1 victory against the Lady Bears.

The week concluded with Perez getting a double and three RBIs, Andrade recording a triple, Kearstyn Gilbert getting two hits, and Ricker scoring twice in the 10-0 win against Shafter.

Tehachapi will be vying for an SSL championship this Thursday against Taft. The Lady Wildcats are the only team to defeat Tehachapi in league this season.
