Tehachapi resident Liz Fox and Mayor Ed Grimes are working with the Tehachapi City Council to get a summer volunteer program titled, "Adopt a Neighbor" up and running.
Fox urges City of Tehachapi residents to call her at 822-0505 to sign-up to help the elderly — or anyone with a disability — who cannot afford to hire a "handy-person."
- Mow a lawn
- Paint a fence
- Clean out a garage or backyard
- Any chore that's difficult for the elderly or disabled
If you or someone you know can benefit from these volunteer services, please contact the Tehachapi Senior Center at 822-5412 and give them your contact information and a description of the services needed.
Helping those in need is a gift to your community that grows in ways you never imagined. Imagine helping a senior maintain their home and their dignity. Imagine helping someone with a disability proudly call you their neighbor and friend. Imagine a community of neighbors that help each other. Imagine yourself calling now, to donate your time and "Adopt a Neighbor."
