Tehachapi’s first Farmer’s Market and More! heralded the coming summer season for the large crowd who strolled the boulevard and sampled fresh produce, a variety of yummy “homemade” treats and enjoyed local gifts, arts, music and crafts at Railroad Park on May 31.
“This is truly an outstanding community gathering venue,” said Tehachapi resident Mark Haynes, who came for the fresh produce, but left with a unique hand-crafted gift of jewelry for his wife’s upcoming birthday.
The Heritage League’s annual Ice Cream Social, held at the end of Green Street, between the Errea House and the Tehachapi Museum, also offered community members an additional sweet treat.
“We did even better than last year,” said Heritage League President Charles White, adding that the popular addition of “old time photos” helped to increase the League’s fundraising effort. Music provided by Deborah Hand and Mountain Music added a nostalgic ambience to the afternoon’s social events.
All the ice cream for the event was donated by Baskin Robbins.
The Farmers Market and More! will continue every Thursday through August at Railroad Park, from 4 to 7 p.m.
