ABCNews’ Bob Stuber appeared in Tehachapi May 31 at a free, public reception sponsored by the Tehachapi Rotary Club. Bob Stuber spoke nearly an hour for the enthusiastic crowd gathered at The Courtyard on Brian Way.
Bob Stuber showed why he is one of the most recognized safety experts in the country. He told the group that we have the obligation to use good old-fashioned common sense when it comes to making our world a bit safer. He cited statistics that, on average, senior citizens are actually safer than children because they use their “gut instincts” and “their common sense of a lifetime,” to be aware, to watch the situation and think it through.
Earlier in the day, Stuber appeared nationwide on ABCNews Good Morning America talking about swimming pool safety. He was asked about how he gets his story ideas and how they develop through to national television.
Stuber explained that each story is a “common sense” story — he stressed that most of us are capable of knowing what to do but we are simply “ignorant” of the facts about when to do those facts. He referred to his SafeEscape national program to assist citizens in safety tips.
Also attending were Kern County Fire Department Public Information Officer Tony Diffenbaugh with literature and compelling videos, Stacy Albaro of the new Tehachapi Police Department, Rotarian member and Tehachapi Fire Chief Tim McLaughlin, Tehachapi Police Chief and Steve Hunsaker of the California Highway Patrol, Mojave division, who showed the audience the CHP’s “rollover cage” and the consequences of drinking and driving with various demonstrations.
Bob Stuber came to Tehachapi for this event after filming upcoming stories for Good Morning America in Los Angeles and before heading to Houston, TX to train the U.S. Coast Guard as part of his duties for U.S. Homeland Security.
As a journalist Bob Stuber has received two Emmy® Awards as well as a host of special recognitions for his unique way of communicating life saving information. As an expert in the field of safety Bob Stuber’s programs are in use by law enforcement, schools, colleges and universities, the department of homeland defense and corporations worldwide.
