The nice weather arrived just in time for crafters to come from all over to Central Park in Tehachapi for the Springtyme Fair. There were crafters from Tehachapi as well as Bakersfield, Ridgecrest, Apple Valley and other places, both near and far.
Many different items were available for the home, including pillows, blankets, bowls, wood carvings, tile paintings, photos and birdhouses, just to name a few of the creative and artistic offerings.
For children, there were puppets, stuffed animals, pillows, blankets and clothing and as well as clothing for adults.
Several food vendors fed hungry shoppers and crafters, offering a variety of ethnic cuisines, including Japanese and Native American food, as well as traditional “fair fare” such as funnel cakes, Kettle Corn and shave ice.
The Tehachapi Art Association, in conjunction with Gallery "n" Gifts, held a drawing for four baskets full of goodies donated by the Tehachapi Candle Company. Proceeds from the drawing will fund scholarships awarded to Tehachapi High School Seniors majoring in art. This year they awarded three scholarships.
Gwynne Jacinto, of Bear Valley Springs, said, "It was sure nice to come to the craft show. There was just the right amount of vendors."
Jacinto and others at the fair said they are looking forward to this summer’s next big display of local talent, Tehachapi’s famed Mountain Festival, coming in August.
