For sixteen years our community has enjoyed the music of Bea and Randy Grounds and assorted musicians who comprise the performing group, Snow White Dove. Randy is transferring from the Tehachapi prison system to Salinas where he is working as Associate Warden.
The last performance of Snow White Dove will take place July 15 at 3 p.m. as part of the summer “Concerts in the Park” series held in Philip Marx Central Park. Bring your own picnic lunch for an after-the-concert farewell to the Grounds, who have shared their musical talents with Tehachapi for sixteen years.
Both have been active leaders in Boy Scouts; have led many worship services in local churches; have been part of the entertainment line-up at several local restaurants; performed at numerous Cub Lake 4th of July celebrations as well as many other notable community events.
Friends pay tribute
Giving a heartfelt testimony on behalf of the local music community are Tony and Margo Amero.
“We have been good friends from almost the first day we met the Grounds sixteen years ago. I worked together with Randy for years at CCI,” said Tony. “Our families fellowshipped together. I do not think that I have ever known another person who has impacted my Christian life as much as Randy Grounds. The entire family, Zack, Leah, Quinton, Bea and Randy have been an inspiration to anyone who knows them. We certainly do not like to see them leave but we are totally confident that there is much for them to do in Salinas. We will miss getting together to play music, pray, relax, and discuss the problems of the world.”
Guy Martin, Boy Scout troop co-leader with Randy and Bea also said the Grounds will be missed by many.
“I met Randy and Bea Grounds when my son and I joined a local Boy Scout troop,” said Martin. “At the time Randy was the pack leader and Bea was one of the den leaders. It was not until later that I learned that they lead the music group Snow White Dove. I attended one of their concerts and experienced first hand the talents both possess. What strikes me the most is the love they have within them. Both are firmly rooted in their faith and relationship with the Lord. This is evident in their family life and in the music they lovingly share with everyone. To know the Grounds is to be touched by love and caring that everyone in this world needs. They will be missed here, but both will be a gift to the people in Salinas.”
Jo Stone, musician, long-time pastor’s wife and family counselor also paid tribute.
“In the course of our many years in ministry, Ted and I have ministered alongside countless couples. Seven years ago our family honored us with a 50th anniversary celebration that was attended by many people from across the United States. When our children asked who we would like to have as anchor musicians for this milestone evening, both of us responded, ‘Bea and Randy Grounds!’ No musicians we know model for others hope for an exciting and powerful Christian marriage like Bea and Randy Grounds. They are some of our ‘kids.’ How we will miss them!”
