Hollywood Stars and Dodgers finish strong season

Both the Hollywood Stars and Dodgers recently competed in the District 51 Tournament of Champions, with both teams earning the honor to represent Tehachapi after strong seasons in inner-city play.
The Hollywood Stars won their first round game in the tournament series, taking a 9-6 win over Rosamond. Tessa Watts hit a home run in the contest, While Becca Russell was a force throughout the entire tournament with 14 strike-outs recorded.
“The girls just had a great attitude this year and they got what they deserved,” said head coach Sabrina Kurczeski. “Everything about the year was positive, and really they just excelled all the way.”
This year’s Hollywood Stars team consisted of Daniella Chavez, Samantha Kurczeski, Cameron Jackson, Madison Burgeis, Becca Russell, Brianna Ginnett, Tessa Watts, Shaina McKinnon, Mary Adams, Kristen Dressel, Shannon Carrington, Riley Newcombe. Team mascots consisted of Devon Russell and JP Kurczeski and assistant coaches Ruth Pena and Tammie Ginnett along with head coach Sabrina Kurczeski.
The Dodgers, Tehachapi’s No. 2 seed, finished one game behind the first-place Hollywood Stars.
“It was an awesome season, all the girls did really well,” said head coach Toni Silva. “They hung in there every game and never gave up.”
Playing for the Dodgers were Mariah Godde, Una Abarquez, Taylor Cummings, Kaylee Reed, Alixandra Lange, Payton Jones, Jazzmin Silva, Aurora Oznne, Kylee Piekarski, Michaela Peters, Rebekah Sebra, and Amanda Sailla.
The Hollywood Stars finished the season with a 14-4-2 record, while the Dodgers had a 12-4-3 record to end the year.
