Two are confirmed dead following a nitrous oxide "flash explosion" that occurred at Mojave Airport at approximately 2:30 p.m., according to airport security officials. Four others have been flown to Kern Medical Center and treated for chemical exposure and other unspecified injuries. Their condition is unknown and no identities have been released at this time.

The explosion occurred at sublet testing facility utilized by Scaled Composites, the company that built SpaceshipOne, according to Captain Tony Diffenbaugh, Kern County Fire Department public information officer.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.

This is horrible my heart goes out to the families involved Scaled Composites has allot of people from Tehachapi. Rotan has made a priority of hiring local people who will stay around with his company. My prayers are with your Scaled family and those in the hospital
