The “T-town Festival,” hosted by Tehachapi Mountain Outreach Program, invites all teens and young adults to an afternoon of free fun, free food, free entertainment and free prizes. Admission is also free! The event is scheduled for Aug. 11, from 1 to 7 p.m., at Philip Marx Central Park, often referred to as City Park. This festival is designed to appeal to 13 to 25 year olds.
The festival’s key speaker is Bay Forrest, former NBA professional basketball player for the Phoenix Suns;
"I love the challenge of being able to bridge the gap between eight to eighty year olds, and everybody in between and try to relate to them all in a way they go; I'm with you, I'm with you," said Forrest.
At six foot 10 inches tall, Forrest's presence is captivating and powerful. His style of speech has been described as “passionate and dynamic,” through which he motivates, incites and challenges teens to live a lifestyle of integrity.
Bay Forrest will be sharing the testimony of his life, using stories and illustrations from his experiences in professional sports, Africa and life in general. His presentations have been described as "funny but poignant." Forrest speaks at universities, conferences and retreats where he challenges people to stand up and live a "sold out" life of purpose. Others have characterized him as a person with a “dynamic presence and the most vivid speaker anyone has ever heard.”
Additional entertainment will feature live local bands including Fading Out Silence, Bold Witness and rapper, Doulos, of Bakersfield, along with many other live bands.
Hundreds of dollars worth of free prizes including a guitar, bicycle, skateboard, and iPod, have been generously donated by businesses and individuals from the Tehachapi community and will be given away during the event.
