Three men who were critically injured in the July 26 Scaled Composites explosion at the Mojave Air & Space Port continue to improve, according to Kern Medical Center (KMC) administrators.

As of press time, the survivors’ names were still not being released to the media, however, administrators noted one man had been transferred to a Los Angeles area hospital for treatment of extensive burns and was currently listed in serious condition.

Evgeniy Gisin, 26, a Russian medical doctor, was identified by family members and remains in the ICU at KMC, in fair condition. A third man, identified only by the last name of Krame, was released from KMC earlier in the week.

The injured men were hit with shrapnel from carbon fiber and metal and were also treated for broken bones and hand injuries, according to Dr. Kenneth Kaylor, the hospital’s trauma program director.
