Registration for grades K-5 is on-going, at Tehachapi Unified School District’s elementary schools, through Aug. 21.
Parents are requested to come to the school offices as soon as possible to register their children.
To register a student, parents should bring a birth certificate, immunization record and social security number. Incoming kindergarten students need to be 5 years old by December 2, 2007 and are also required to have proof of health and dental examinations. This is a new requirement this year. The law specifies that a dental health assessment must be completed by May 31 of the kindergarten year. There are also waiver forms available if a family does not wish to have a dental assessment. For information regarding free or low-cost dental exams available for children contact: www.denti-cal.ca.gov, www.healthyfamilies.ca.gov/hfhome/asp, or contact the local health department.
Parents are encouraged to register new students at their school of residence as soon as possible so the district may have a more accurate count of potential school enrollment.
The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 22.
TUSD elementary school locations:
• Cummings Valley Elementary School is located at 24220 Bear Valley Rd.; 822-2190
• Golden Hills Elementary School is located at 20215 Park Rd., 822-2180
• Tompkins Elementary School is located at 1120 S. Curry St.; 822-2170
• The TUSD district office is located at 400 S. Snyder Ave.; 822-2100
Jacobsen Middle School registration and orientation
Orientation for JMS is scheduled for Aug. 17. Everyone will meet in the cafeteria at the follow times:
8th grade 8 a.m.
7th grade 9:30 a.m.
6th grade 11 a.m.
You must bring a completed emergency card with you in order to pick up your schedule. Pictures will be taken at that time and you may purchase ASB cards and yearbooks.
The office for Jacobsen Middle School located at 711 Anita Drive and is now open for new registration. The office hours for registration are 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be closed from noon to 1 p.m.
School will begin on August 22nd at 7:40 a.m. for 7th and 8th grade and 8:22 a.m. for 6th grade. If you have any questions please feel free to call the main office at 822-2150 or the counseling office at 822-2258.
Tehachapi High School orientation
Orientation for the 07/08 school year has been scheduled for Aug. 15-16. Seniors and juniors will report to the Tehachapi High School gymnasium on Wednesday, Aug. 15. Sophomores, freshmen and all new students will have orientation on Thursday, Aug. 16.
A newsletter with calendar, emergency cards and other important papers was mailed to students’ homes on Aug. 1. If you did not receive your student’s packet, please stop by the school office between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Aug. 6. If you have just moved to the area and wish to register your student, please call the counseling office at 822-2146 to schedule an appointment.
