First I want to say the photo on the left is an example of something the girl employees at Java Mamas could wear instead of the bikinis.

I have purchased a few drinks and cinnamon rolls from Java Mamas and I received good service and excellent drinks/food, but I was a little suprised one weekend when I walked up and the employee was in a bikini. I personally don't think bikinis and coffee go together.

I see they are saying there isn't any difference between lifeguards wearing bikinis and baristas but as far as a lifeguard, a swim suit and water do go together. I think Java Mamas could try to advertise a little more around town before they have to resort to wearing bikinis. I haven't seen any advertisements for them. I just think Java Mamas would get more business by being known for "great drinks and cinnamon rolls" not as "the business that has to have girls in bikinis because otherwise no one will come."

If you notice when Quiznos has a slow time, they put someone out on the street dressed in a cup, not a bikini. That is just a more professional outfit even though it is goofy looking, it's appropriate for that type of business.

I think a lifeguard would look a bit weird if they were sitting in their chair wearing a sweatshirt and jeans, people expect them to wear bathing suits and they aren't being worn to attract people.

As one business owner to another, I could have my employees wear bikinis too,  but I know I would lose business because many Tehachapi residents would be upset.

If I owned my business by the beach, I most certainly would have my employees wear bikinis. Maybe on weekends try like "half off drinks" with a big banner. That would make me stop!

Or make up a bunch of drinks and go around to different businesses and pass them out, yeah your not making any money but word-of-mouth in Tehachapi is the best advertisement.

Tehachapi isn't the same as Bakersfield, if I owned the same business in Bakersfield as I do in Tehachapi, I would use different forms of advertisement.

I would hate to see Java Mamas lose business only because Tehachapi residents don't agree with the form of advertisement chosen. Advertising is supposed to bring people in, not bring in some and push some away.

A little advice, I personally think if you want to advertise by what you wear, it would look better if the employees wear like a barista costume (like the photo shown), they have ones that are a little, I guess skimpy, but the employees would be covered up a lot more. There is a diner I go to and the employees all dress up, wearing the old diner dresses. I think that attracts people.

Anyways, Goodluck to Java Mamas and every other small business in Tehachapi.
