October 5, 2004 is a day that will be etched forever in the history of our family.  It is the day that Thomas Vanderhorst, age 47, unexpectedly died.  He was my husband and the father of Nic, now 13 and Tina, now 12.

We could have chosen to accept his death as an end to his life but decided to reach out and help someone who was suffering from a dire, life threatening disease.  Through the wonderful, caring staff of One Legacy, an organ and tissue donation network, Tom became an organ  and tissue donor.  We still very much feel the loss of him, but are comforted in knowing he saved other people, who are still alive today.

In memory of Tom, I would like you donate life and register to become an organ and tissue donor.  If you have any questions, concerns or want more information, go to www.onelegacy.org to learn more.  You can also reach them by phone at (800)786-4077.

If you are ready to become an organ and tissue donor, you can now register online at www.onelegacy.org.  By doing so, you will let your family know of your decision to donate life should anything occur.  Leave a legacy that your family and friends can remember you by.

I too would like to thank One Legacy and Tom for saving my life. There are too few people who have the courage to donate a drop of blood let alone something more committed. I know theres no appropriate way to say this but thank you joyce, I wont take this gift for granted. Bill
